Function and Working Principle:

High-Pressure Inlet: The fluid enters the PRV at a high, unregulated pressure

Diaphragm and Spring: Inside the valve, a diaphragm acts as a pressure sensor. A spring applies a counteracting force to the diaphragm.

Sensing and Adjustment: The downstream (outlet) pressure pushes against the diaphragm. This pressure is compared to a pre-set level by the spring.

Regulation: If the downstream pressure exceeds the desired level, the diaphragm overcomes the spring's force and pushes a valve plug partially closed, restricting the flow and reducing the pressure. Conversely, if the pressure drops below the set point, the spring pushes the plug open, allowing more flow and raising the pressure.
